A major goal of the UMN NRT is to bring our science to the local community by hosting engaging outreach events. Since the start of the UMN NRT in 2017, our students have been involved in a variety of outreach activities including:
- Recording a podcast about sensory science research
- Hosting a monthly journal club at Abiitan Mill City, a local retirement community
- Volunteering at artist Liza Sylvestre's Sensory Loss Symposium at the Weisman Art Museum
- Teaching a course through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute
